Maxx 2004 Tour of Gymnastics Champions, Carly Patterson can be seen through a crack in the curtains as she warms up backstage before a show in Chicago. GOLDEN GIRL - The summer began well for Carly Patterson. She got her driver's license and her braces off. But it was in Athens where Patterson went from hopeful teenager to gymnastics legend. She jumped into the arms of her coach and the dreams of every young gymnast. She became a household name, an American icon, the next Mary Lou.
