California Economy Crisis: Devin Bryson, 8, a third grader and Elizabeth Bryson, 6, a kindergardener both at Matsuyama Elementary school shout in support of teachers at the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA. Public school teachers gathered outside of the Capitol Friday afternoon - after school hours - to protest against the estimated 25,000 preliminary pink slips for layoffs were dolled out to teachers, librarians and other employees statewide due to cuts in education funding. Photo taken March 13, 2009. The demonstrators, many dressed in pink for pink slips, were organized by the California Teachers Association, which has blasted the unusually high number of layoff notices this year. School districts have about two months now before they must finalize these notices, tinkering with their budgets in the interim to limit layoffs. Photos taken on Friday March 13, 2009.
