Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower waves a five-star flag from the window of his room at Walter Reed Army Medical Center Oct. 14--his 78th birthday. The General, who was reported recuperating from a series of heart attacks this summer, was serenaded by the Army Band and received a giant card from fellow patients. Beside him is Mrs. Eisenhower.
