The number of people who died in quakes in 1976 was in the hundreds of thousands. This is the Guatemala earthquake in which 22,000 lost their lives and over 75,000 were injured. The man behind the fire in the picture on the extreme right of the layout is burning someone who was crushed beneath a huge stone. His village lost 400 people.
